UPMC
The Pierre and Marie Curie University (UPMC) was France’s largest medical and scientific institution. Established in 1971 following the break-up of the old University of Paris, its roots could be traced back further, to 1109 and the Abbey of St Victor. The modern-day UPMC comprises 120 research units across 33 separate sites. It has a student body totaling 30,000, which includes 3,500 doctoral students, who can choose from subjects organised across seven faculties, including chemistry, engineering, mathematics, medicine, physics, life science, earth and environmental sciences, and biodiversity.
