The National Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa“
In 1999, under the authority of the Ministry of Environment and Water Management, the National Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa” was established, by reorganizing the Romanian Institute of Marine Research. In order to recognize the centuries-old tradition and the continuity of the national oceanology, the institute is named after Professor Grigore Antipa (1867 – 1944), the founder of the Romanian school of marine ecology.
