Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change
CMCC
The CMCC Foundation is an international institution producing advanced research on the interaction between climate change and society, developing transversal and multidisciplinary competencies that combine first-class climate modeling with climate resilience studies and economic scenarios.
CMCC harnesses its advanced climate modeling capabilities to transform scientific knowledge into predictive tools. These tools are designed to support decision-makers in developing both short-term responses and long-term strategies for climate resilience. By operating at the intersection of environment, technology, society, and the economy, CMCC ensures that its insights are relevant and actionable across multiple sectors.
With over 200 projects and publications annually, CMCC’s organizational structure encourages collaboration and interaction across key expertise from the many disciplines involved in responding to the challenges that characterize the coming decades.
CMCC collaborates with top international centers specializing in advanced and applied climate research, with a global network of over 700 institutions, actively participating in European and global initiatives, including the Copernicus Services, the European Topic Centre on Climate Change impacts, vulnerability, and Adaptation, ICOS, JPI Climate, and the UN Global Compact, among others.

Climate science for oceans
JPI Climate & JPI Oceans Joint Transnational Call on the Next Generation Climate Science in Europe for Oceans
Oceans play a key role in the climate system and are also affected by climate change. As confirmed by the IPCC special report on ocean and cryosphere, ocean dynamics are a major modulator of weather and climate including future trends and extremes. However, there are still uncertainties in the understanding and quantification of key climate-ocean interactions and the ocean’s buffering capacities for absorbing heat and CO2. This joint call aims to address these uncertainties.
