The mission of the AEI is to promote scientific and technical research in all areas of knowledge through the efficient allocation of public resources, the promotion of excellence, the promotion of collaboration between the agents of the System and support for the generation of knowledge of high scientific and technical, economic and social impact, including those aimed at solving the great challenges of society, and the monitoring of financed activities as well as the necessary advice to improve the design and planning of actions or initiatives to through which the R+D policies of the General State Administration are implemented.

Strengthening INternational Cooperation on climatE change Research
SINCERE, consistent with the EU research and innovation policy, strengthens open international climate change research and innovation cooperation involving European partners in support of the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement, including in the broader context of the Sendai Framework for Disaster reduction and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Assessment of Cross(X) - sectoral climate Impacts and pathways for Sustainable transformation
The ERA-NET Consortium AXIS (Assessment of Cross(X) - sectoral climate Impacts and pathways for Sustainable transformation) aims to promote cross-boundary, cross-community research with the overall goal to improve coherence, integration and robustness of climate impact research and connect it to societal needs. To this effect, AXIS aims to overcome boundaries between science communities through inter- or transdisciplinary research projects.
European Conference on Climate Change Adaptation
JPI Climate organises a European Conference on Climate Change Adaptation ‘Actionable Knowledge for a Climate Resilient Europe’ ECCA 2023 on 19-21 June 2023, in Dublin: bringing regional stakeholders (researchers, policy and decision makers) together around state of the art climate adaptation science and knowledge for a climate resilient Europe. In person event for up to 500 people with life streaming for online access and interaction.
Collaborative Research Action by the JPIs on Cultural Heritage and Climate and the Belmont Forum
This Call is jointly organised between the Joint Programming Initiatives Cultural Heritage and Global Change (JPI CH) and Connecting Climate Knowledge for Europe (JPI Climate) and the Belmont Forum. The Call aims to support transdisciplinary and convergent research approaches on cultural heritage and climate change, to foster collaboration among the research community across several regions, and to contribute to knowledge advances and policy change at the global level.
