AMOC Project Planning Meeting to Shape Upcoming Review Report

Banner

JPI Climate and JPI Oceans are launching a joint initiative to develop a Review Report on the latest State of Knowledge on the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). This effort, co-led by Prof. Dr. Hans-Otto Pörtner (Alfred-Wegener-Institute, Germany), is part of the Equinox Process, which accelerates the transfer of scientific knowledge into policy and action.

With growing concerns about ocean surface warming and the weakening of major ocean currents, this initiative aims to provide policymakers with the latest scientific insights on AMOC’s critical role in the climate system.

To kickstart this work, an invite-only Project Planning Meeting will take place on 30 January 2025 in Brussels (hybrid with online participation). Experts and key stakeholders will come together to outline the scope and direction of this crucial assessment.
