On 30th March, 2023, MAGICA’s communication and dissemination team organized the online workshop on “Science communication strategies for climate change research: sharing best practices”.

Roger Street (University of Oxford and CMCC) and Johana Nalau (IPCC and Griffith University) were invited as keynote speakers to discuss the impact and reach of climate research through targeting communication and the use of social media for climate adaptation.

More than 50 participants from different EU projects and organizations joined the workshop and shared their experiences along 7 breakout sessions. In the plenary session, interesting reflections were discussed about efficient communication mechanisms, challenges and barriers to approach different target audiences including overlooked or underserved audiences. As well, inclusion of new trends of social media into climate science communication or intermediary actors to reach larger audiences were discussed.
