International Congress on Biocultural Heritage and Cultural Ecosystem Services

Event

About the Congress

The International Congress in Coimbra brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and community representatives to explore how Cultural Ecosystem Services (CES) and Biocultural Heritage (BCH) can reshape sustainability thinking and practice. Through panels, workshops, and collaborative sessions, participants will co-develop ideas for a White Paper — a strategic roadmap to integrate cultural values, practices, and knowledge systems into biodiversity, climate, and sustainability policies.

The event is co-organized by JPI Climate, JPI Cultural Heritage and the Centre for Functional Ecology (University of Coimbra), along with participation from UNESCO and other international institutions.
