Climate-smart agriculture and sustainable landscapes

Multilateral initiative launched with CCSE AU-EU Partnership and JPI Climate led by France and Germany have co-designed joint activities with African partners in the frame of CS4RRA Climate services for risk reduction in Africa and organised three webinars (more information here). The last fourth webinar: Climate-smart agriculture and sustainable landscapes will be held on 14 March, 2024 at the Kwame Nkruma University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana.
The webinar will cover three topics:
- Topic 1: Importance of sustainable land use management: Explaining the importance of sustainable land use management, highlighting how it can help mitigate and adapt to climate change while preserving ecosystems and biodiversity, in both coastal, urban or rural areas.
- Topic 2: Principles of climate-smart agriculture: Present the fundamental principles of climate-smart agriculture, involving forestry and livestock, including adaptation, mitigation and resilience strategies. Emphasize the importance of balancing food security, soil restoration and environmental sustainability.
- Topic 3: Policy and regulatory frameworks: Analyze existing policies and regulations related to climate-smart agriculture and land-use management in African countries. Identify gaps and potential areas for improvement.
