Arctic Circle Assembly 2025

The Arctic Circle Assembly 2025, held in Reykjavík, Iceland, will feature a session titled “AMOC at the Crossroads”, co-organised by JPI Climate, JPI Oceans, and the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research.

This session will bring together leading experts: Hans-Otto Pörtner (AWI, Co-Chair of the JPI Climate & JPI Oceans joint AMOC initiative), Marius Årthun (Bjerknes Centre), Stefan Rahmstorf (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research), and Audrey Morley (University of Galway). Together, they will explore what a future scientific assessment should include to meaningfully reflect the potential consequences of changes in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC).
