Collecting good practices on integrating science into climate change policy making Wageningen University and Research, with input from the UNEP DTU Partnership (a UNEP collaborating centre), and as part of SINCERE, is collecting real-world good practices with regard to integrating science into climate change policy making. This will help JPI Climate increasing the impact of its research calls.

Booklet: Next Generation Climate Science for Oceans research projects In 2019 JPI Climate and JPI Oceans partners launched the joint call « Next Generation Climate Science in Europe for Oceans”, looking for research proposals focusing on interactions between oceans and climate by analysing model simulations and observational data. The call resulted in the selection of four research projects: On this occasion, the JPI Oceans and JPI Climate secretariats are pleased to jointly publish the new information booklet “Next Generation Climate for Oceans – Research projects 2020-2023”. The booklet provides a brief overview of the scope and objectives of each project, as well as details on the respective partner consortia.

Climate data and climate services for the finance sector: challenges, opportunities and experiences This blog summarises the webinar dialogue on climate data and climate services for the finance sector: challenges, opportunities and experiences, that was organised by ClimatEurope and the SINCERE project in April 2020. During the webinar discussion took place on how climate change is entering into the financial arena and how financial institutes are supporting their clients to become more climate friendly. JPI Climate funded ClimInvest project and other speakers shared their experience in developing climate services for the finance sector. This blog is especially interesting for climate services research funders, developers and financial actors that deal with climate change. It will give insight in ongoing climate services initiatives and highlights new opportunities for finance sector – climate science collaboration.

COP25 Side Event “Connecting scientific knowledge to implement the Paris Agreement. The value of trust in international research cooperation” The JPI Climate side event held on 12 December in Italian Pavilion at 6-8 pm in Madrid, Spain gathered around 40 participants among the COP25 attendants. A welcome speech was given by Italian Minister of Research and Education, Sergio Costa, who emphasized the importance of reliable climate information and translated to specific needs for action.

CSA SINCERE: Flagship Action for Latin America: “A joint vision of climate science for Latin America and Europe" The SINCERE Task 4.2 team has organised a side event of the COP 25 in Madrid on 4th of December. The Flagship Action developed under the project is focused on the design of research and innovation collaborations in Latin America (LAC), aiming to expand and deepen knowledge to support the uptake of climate change adaptation and mitigation policies, climate services and resilience to disasters linked to climate change.

JPI Climate E-magazine We are happy to announce that the JPI Climate e-magazine is available now. This E-magazine is the result of the work developed by the JPI Climate project "Strengthening INternational Cooperation on climatE change REsearch" (SINCERE), in close collaboration with the coordinators from the research projects, and has the intention to increase the societal impact of these projects, by disseminating their results and achievements in ways that are understandable to lay audiences.

E-magazine - valorisation of the JPI Climate projects results JPI Climate has mobilised more than 100 Mio EUR in research investments and has provided access to knowledge and expertise across Europe and beyond. This has been possible with the support of its member countries and the European Commission (EC), and it has been done in partnership with other JPIs (such as FACCE-JPI , JPI Oceans, JPI Urban Europe) and, at the global level, with the Belmont Forum.

How local initiatives help to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions - an exploratory study of Soesterkwartier, Amersfoort Amersfoort takes part by aiming at being CO2-neutral and waste-free by 2030. Residents from the neighbourhood Soesterkwartier have taken the initiative to create a sustainable living environment. Concerned residents have united voluntarily in the association “Duurzaam Soesterkwartier”.
