The first virtual GB meeting of JPI Climate took place on 12-13 of May 2020. The discussions focused on the second JPI Climate Scoping Forum Symposium planned for December 2020, the further development of knowledge hubs and the collaboration with the European Commission in the context of the Horizon Europe Missions and Green Deal - all member countries were represented as well as observer like the European Environmental Agenca EEC and ECRA (European Climate Research Alliance). Numerous members of the TAB (Transdisciplinary Advisory Board) also joined in for the discussion.
At the beginning of the meeting the Chair, Frank. McGovern had very good news to announce by welcoming Hungary as a new Associated Member in the JPI Climate Governing Board. Hungary will join with the Ministry for Innovation and Technology which is the responsible domestic authority both for climate and science policy and also the supervisory body of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office. The relevant departments will work together in a coordinated manner representing Hungary.
